About the Lectures
This lecture series will be the first event to take place in Japan to mark the continued research partnership between the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties (Nabunken) and the Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures. Nabunken and the Sainsbury Institute signed a formal research partnership agreement in 22 December 2015 with the objective of promoting Japanese archaeology to the international research community. Between September 2015 and May 2016, a five-part research seminar series was delivered in different parts of the United Kingdom with the support of the Sainsbury Institute.
This lecture series will bring forward cutting edge research in Japan and the UK and new archaeological research methodologies practiced in the UK to a wider Japanese audience. The series attempts to engage the general audience to learn more about the research activities of both organisations through talks on unique and innovative case studies.
