This year’s Robert Sainsbury Lecture is led by the Sainsbury Research Unit for the Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas. This annual event, hosted in turn by the Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures, the Sainsbury Centre and the Sainsbury Research Unit, will replace our Third Thursday Lecture for October.
Join us for this in-person event at the Julian Study Centre at University of East Anglia (UEA) followed by a reception at the Sainsbury Centre.

About the speaker
George Nuku is a New Zealand-born artist, resident in France, who first came to the Sainsbury Centre as a visiting artist in 2006 during the Pacific Encounters exhibition. He has since exhibited at the Venice Biennale and created major ex-hibitions in Vienna, Leiden, Rouen, Paris, Edinburgh and elsewhere. He is noted for his reflections on history and culture, and for his use of plastic and other man-made materials in works relating to ocean health and Maori world views.
