Nagase Fumihito

Nagase Fumihito graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo before working for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government as an archaeologist. He specialises in the archaeology of central Japan during the Middle Jomon period (about 4500 to 3500 years ago). He is particularly interested in the symbolism of pottery designs and clay figures (dogu) and is conducting research in relation to the exhibitions of dogu at the British Museum and at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Art, in 2009 and 2010.
