Mami Mizutori is Executive Director of the Sainsbury Institute. She has previously worked for the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs where her posts included Director of Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) at the Embassy of Japan in London and Director for Financial Affairs for the Foreign Ministry. She graduated in law from Hitotsubashi University, and has taught international policy at Waseda University. Her appointment comes as the Institute entered its second decade of facilitating and delivering innovative research into all aspects of Japanese arts and cultures. She is responsible for identifying and pursing appropriate strategic directions which will lead to raising the research profile of the Institute as well as the day to day management of the activities at the Institute.
